At the present day , the fossil based fuels , such as petroleum and natural gas , constitutes most of the world's energy production resources.
The energy demand in the world has been increased , resulting in the increased demand to the fossil based fuel , which is already scarce. Because of the increased energy demand , the costs of energy production inputs (petroleum , natural gas etc. ) increased and this eventually resulted in a rise in energy production costs.
Private sector become one of the major actors in the energy production investments in Turkey after the Build - Operate investment model put in the practice in 1997 and after the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) was established in 2001. These give impetus to the energy investments.
Unfortunately , the renewable energies do not have the deserved place in all these energy production investments.
According to the EMRA 2007 data , Turkey has its energy from natural gas , hydroelectric and thermic power plants , with ratios of 50 % , 30 % and 25 % , respectively. The biggest dilemma of the production is outsourcing of the supply of natural gas. In addition to this , producing energy from the thermic power plants damage the natural environment and also increases the global warming.
In fact , Turkey has scarce wind , running water and thermal resources , which are all renewable energy resources. The threat in nuclear power plant increases , because of keeping the discipline in the business structures is difficult. For these reasons , especially the EMRA , and the other public and private sector corporations and institutions started the researches and studies in solar energy based production.
Guney Grup Enerji Cevre Danismanlik A.S. , which is a subsidiary of Guney Proje Danismanlik , has been completed the solar radiation analysis of Turkey. Guney Grup Enerji gives the following consulting services in the fields of solar thermal power plants , which feeds the interconnected system and also in individual electric energy production based on solar power.
- Determining the suitable land for the power plant by analysing the solar radiation data
- Determining the suitable methodologies and models for the region
- Preparing the feasibility studies
- Performing the supervisor tasks
- Establishing turn-key solar power plants
- Performing the " carbon credit " trade and emission trade applications in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol signed within the context of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
- Applying solar cell systems developed for the end - users , which can be installed by the end-users themselves , with high efficiency and easy to use
